Most of these entries will be somewhat about my breast cancer journey. I want to show you how God showed up and showed off in my life during this time (and so many other times). At times it is shocking at how this all played out. How prepared I was based solely on family and friends placed in my life, and my strength in spirit and faith. God has a plan for all of our lives and if you believe you can see it play out in such clear form. My hope is even if you do not believe in God, that maybe my story will make you curious.
Let’s start with the beginning of last year 2024. January rolls around and we all make our intentions/resolutions/goals for the year. I’ve always been more of an intentions girl. What can I do to get myself to xyz? One of the firsts on the list for the last few years especially since menopause had hit is what do I intend to do to lose weight. Being a former fitness instructor and triathlete and having a health coaching certification one might think this is easy for you to do! Think again. Not easy at all. I’ve been carrying around the same 50lbs for a few years now. Not one thing I’ve done including a flipping Ironman made that scale number go down. If you haven’t heard from all the influencers MENOPAUSE makes nothing easy especially weight loss. Now am I a perfect eater….NOPE. Have I given it a good college try….YEP. So, you ask what is different about this year than the others? I had enough and I was going to try something different. In walks training with a personal trainer who I’ve known since my fitness instructing days. She is a personal trainer at a CrossFit gym. Something I have been scared of for a long time because I knew if I started, I wouldn’t want to stop. Can someone say competitive??
In February, I began working out with her three times a week at the CrossFit gym and just like I suspected I fell in love with it. I loved the intensity. I loved lifting heavy weights and proving to myself I am still strong. Remember we are slowly building the story. This strength will be needed. About three weeks into my training one of my best girlfriends and her sister started joining in on these workouts which made it even more fun. The three of us are very competitive. Weeks went on and while I wasn’t losing weight, I was losing inches and gaining confidence that had been lacking for quite a while.
I will leave you here ready to begin March which starts with an engagement and a random purchase that isn’t so random when you do not believe in coincidence but divine interventions……
